WMA (Windows Media Audio) WMA - Playback of Compressed Music Files Pioneer has extended the availability of WMA capability within the Single CD tuner line-up. Windows Media provides many benefits over other audio compression technologies, such as MP3. The typical MP3 file is encoded at 128kbps, which provides near CD-quality sound. On the other hand, Windows Media Format is capable of delivering comparable audio quality at 64 Kbps- half the size of typical MP3 files.
This can provide two advantages: · WMA files encoded at 128kbps will provide vastly superior sound quality to a comparable MP3 file. This is critical with many of our high-quality, high performance car audio systems. On better equipment, you will hear the difference. · A typical CD-R could contain 20 hours of WMA music, compared to just 10 hours using MP3 - double the capacity!
In addition, Windows Media Player is included in Windows XP and makes ripping & burning WMA discs extremely easy.
